QUAYSIDE ANTIQUES

The showroom at Quayside Antiques

A TALE OF KINDNESS

This gem of a showroom is tucked away in Whitchurch, Shropshire, a mile or so from the visitor moorings on the Whitchurch arm of the Llangollen canal.

I don't suppose there are many days that a woman with a big nose appears on a broomstick at their showroom, but that is what happened this summer. (Actually it was a mop handle, but that spoils the story a bit).

The reason? My cousin is getting married and having her hen do on my narrowboat. I wanted to do it up a bit and needed to construct a 'bunting holding device' for the roof of the boat, but didn't have the tools onboard to drill a hole. I happened to pass Quayside Antiques and thought they may have woodworking facilities so it may be worth asking. It certainly was. Paul was extremely helpful, and for a small dontation to the tea fund provided me with a piece of wood with a hole in it, sawed a slot in the end of my broomstick, and cut a small wooden wedge. I was then given instructions on how to slot the broomstick into the hole and knock the wedge in so that the whole thing stays together.

Girls having fun Here is the finished article sucessfully holding up the bunting. Best wishes Lisa!
